Flame2710
Daughter has a 2013 Edge with a 3.5L with 115K miles. Attends University. Recently she tried to start it up but it would not start or crank. Lights will light up but will not crank and gives a "Starting System Fault" code on dash. Figured it had a dead battery cell so replaced battery. Worked for a while and did same thing. Took to Ford Dealership and they replaced the Transceiver in the steering column as well as a new key fob. Worked for a week or two and started happening again. Took back to the dealership but they don't have a clue what it is. Will not start one day, the next time it will start right up. Seems like 1 out of 10 times she tries to start it we have this issue. Afraid to have daughter in unreliable vehicle. Anyone hear of this problem?
enigma-2
Does she have a cordless charger hooked up in the car? Known to cause this issue. If not, next time it happens, try starting with the other key. Sometimes this works.

Annie2
My 2013 ford edge is doing the same thing! My uncle cleaned the battery connectors yesterday it worked fine after he did that and today he changed the starter also worked fine afterwards. I am getting super stressed. BoiceB
I was having the same issue, but I have figured out the cause of my issue. The ignition switch has a sensor in it that reads a signal from the key. The vehicle is programed for specific keys with unique signal on each key. I installed a phone holder that has a wireless charger about 2 inches from the ignition switch. When I place the phone into the charger it creates a magnetic field. That magnetic field is disrupting the ignition switch/key pairing capability. I moved the phone charger to the other side of the radio (away from the ignition switch) and have no more issues. I can duplicate the issue every time I move the phone charger (when charging) close to the ignition switch.
