Rough Idle and trouble codes P0018 and P0021

My 2011 Edge Limited AWD started to idle rough the other day, and the check engine light came on throwing codes P0018 Bank 2 Sensor A and P0021 Bank 2.  I normally attempt to do my own maintenance, at least when I can.  What are the possible causes of this?  Is there anything that I can do to troubleshoot without throwing parts at it?  It also seems to have lost some power, but I didn't really try to run it hard after the symptoms started. In fact since then I haven't had it over about 35mph.  And haven't driven it since the day it happened.  I would rather not have to go to the dealer, but obviously will if I have to.  I doubt that it makes a difference but about a month ago I replaced the oil pressure switch.  Thanks :)

Haha my 2019 ST has started throwing these codes a couple weeks ago and I'm off warranty.

Oil pressure, low oil and old oil are good starting  places.

Next is swap the cam solenoids from bank 1 to 2 and vice versa. If it moves to bank 1, you know it's the solenoids. Also inspect the solenoids for any dirt, etc.(The stage I'm on)

If it doesn't move and still throws aa code then from what I know it's time to replace the vvt cam sprocket.

knee jerk reaction? water pump/timing chain failure. P0016 and P0018 codes are basically the same animal. bank 1 vs 2. as the timing chain stretches or tensioner loses flexibility, power loss can definitely be a symptom as the PCM retards timing to save the engine.

how many miles on your Edge?

the work can be DIY, depending on your mechanical ability.  it is an exhautive process and you must be diligent about following procedure.

you can follow the video series on this work over at YouTube.

It has about 145K on it.  That seems pretty early for a timing chain, but then again I have seen some weird stuff on this car.  I am pretty mechanical, and worked as a mechanic for several years back in the 80s.  But these cars are totally different animals compared to back then.

not too early at all. if you think about it, the edge is practically 12 years old.  it has had avg 12K/year put on it, less than the national 15K/year. and we all know how traffic has worsened in the last couple of decades.

if you have been following ford maintenance schedules, you are in for a shock.

All fluids (trans, power steering, brake and coolant) should be serviced on a 5/60 schedule from mile 0. the fantasy "normal' maintenance schedule exists for an ever diminishing owner population.

AWD fluids - every 3/36 max for PTU, 6/72 max for RDU.  look up how much it costs to replace either unit, and you will quickly realize the value of regular maintenance.

plugs should be changed on a 5/60 schedule as well, with PCV valve at least being cleaned if not replaced.  the tube on the valve is a PITA to take off, but it will yield to heat lol.
