Scottd316
Hello all, I'm new to the forum. Just a quick question. I used to take my 2009 Ford Edge Sel to the dealership to have my oil changed. They always used Motorcraft Synthetic blend 5w-20. I stopped taking it there due to the price. I took it to another place today and all they had left was Castrol full synthetic 5w-20. Is this OK? I know Castrol is good, but will using full synthetic vs Synthetic blend make a difference? Good or bad? Thank you for your time!
1004ron
Yes, full synthetic is superior to the synthetic blend and its the same viscosity. I'm sure that you'll find that listed in your owners manual.

WWWPerfA_ZN0W
any full synthetic is fine, but these engines seem to prefer "thicker" oils such as from Shell, Castrol, Mobil1 etc. you can see SN rated producer characteristics on this spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gEMTa3YOBIYBTYiaEhQLfooPohN_l645z1DaWRuFzC0/ and it carries through even with the SP and SN+ rated oils. you can even move up to 5W30 with no worries.
Victor
I use Mobile 1 10w-30 on mine.
