(2016 Edge Sport 2.7L) I put in the same amount that came out. How much did you put in? Safest is to fill until it trickles out the fill hole. There's numerous reports of errors in the listed quantity. Edited November 5, 2022 by 1004ron

There's numerous reports of errors in the listed quantity. Since I drained 22oz out, of my `16 Edge, I put maybe 23-24oz back in. I thought 11.7 was too little gear oil for a case that size. You'd think the Ford Owners Manuel would be accurate but I'm starting to wonder. I don't want to overfill it bc I'm afraid of aeration. I only was able to get about 10oz out of my daughters `19 Titanium 2.0L. I put about 14oz of Amsoil 75W-90 Extreme back in but I'm thinking of adding an additional 8ozs. (she purchased new and the PTU oil has never been changes) Edited November 5, 2022 by 1004ron

I've never changed the PTU oil so I thought it was time. I'm fortunate bc the drain plug and fill plug are very accessible and I didn't need to remove anything to change the oil. I drained 22 ounces out so I added 22 ounces of Amsoil 75W-140 Severe Gear oil. I'm a little confused bc my owners manual says to add 12.8 ounces. So whats up with that? Has anyone experienced this? Now I decided to change the PTU oil on my daughters 2019 Edge Titanium 2.0L Her Edge was purchased new and I'm changing her PTU for the first time also. I drained about 12 ounces out. so I put 14 ounces back in. Ford calls for 12.7 +/- 1.7 ounces in her Edge Decided to crawl under my daughters 2019 Titanium and add some more oil to the already 14oz. I added the other day. It took about 3ozs before it started coming out of the fill hole so I guess 17oz is all it'll hold. It has to be a much smaller PTU than whats in `16 2.7L
DILLARD000
AmsOil 75w140 About as good as Differential\PTU\RDU gear lube gets.
enigma-2
Simple methods is to squirt in the 7W140 until is starts to overflow and run out. A good choice is Valvoline 75W140. Great oil and comes in a squeeze pouch, makes it easy to refill the PTU in tight places. (This is for a case of four quarts, but only one is needed for a drain/fill). https://a.co/d/e9M7xgw
my2k2zx2
What is the part # for replacement drain plugs? I have a 2016 2.0 and had a heck of a time getting them out. I did use a Torx Plus bit but damaged them a bit with the torque needed to break them free. I'd like to replace them when I change the fluid again in the sprint. Why did you use a Torx Plus and not what these plugs are Torx - that's most likely why they're damaged. Mine were very hard to break free due to the tapered metal to metal seal, but with the correct Torx key there was no risk of damaging the plug. my2k2zx2
The T50 I had was loose to begin with, was afraid it would fully strip out. The TP50 I had fit much better. Knowing that I'm doing it again in the spring I figured it would be easy to replace the plugs at that time.
Haz
From Ford's online parts site... Magnetic Drain Plug part number: CV6Z-7A010-A FordParts.com page link for Magnetic Drain Plug Filler Plug part number: CV6Z-7A010-B FordParts.com page link for Filler Plug Web searching the part numbers may reveal lower pricing via other online sellers. Sasquatch Killer
Well, I just got off the phone with the Fresno Lithia Ford dealership and the topic; Ford Edge P.T.U. This conversation was about what fluid to use. Let’s make a long story short. I was Informed that an update by Ford, they now use Mercon LV trans fluid in place of the 75/140 synthetic gear oil for the P.t.U. Should there be some things to consider here? I’m sure there is a difference in viscosity and fluid weight. Riddle me this, changing your synthetic fluid out for a non-synthetic fluid on a part that is under constant heat from friction, engine block and manifold, is that really much of an improvement or is the Ford manufacturer just wanting to ensure complete part failure? enigma-2
Most likely they are looking for a less expensive replacement. For reference, the original PTU fluid is made by US Lubricants. It's their 300 Waylube, rebanded under the Ford label. These are at the very top of lube products.
