MarkF30
Driving today- hot day 85-90, and i have a heavy foot. After ~2hrs of driving, car's power dropped off significantly...i was struggling to maintain 80mph up slight inclines. Once off highway, i could hear turbo not kicking in, and car felt like a natural 4 cyl.... no power. Also, there were no warning lights on at any time. Parked it, came back out and took it for a ride 3 hours later, turbo worked normally. My question is if the ECU Limp Mode was triggered, and if so, what caused it? Any help is appreciated! WWWPerfA_ZN0W
there are 2 possible issues, among others. 1) the turbo quit, coding P0299 in its wake, or 2) there is coolant intrusion (check the level in the reservoir/degas bottle after cooldown/on level ground). people turbo their vehicles at higher elevations / thinner air conditions to make up for that power loss. i don't think what you had happen was normal in a functioning system. unless the engine was overheating beyond the PCM's ability to handle it, should not have been a limp home event. were you monitoring the live data from the OBD port at the time?
