Hi All,

Read alot of posts on this but heres my specific case before i replace the fan assembly:

2013 Ford Edge 3.5L. 151,000 Miles.

Idling for about 15 mins in MAX AC,  heat starts rising fairly quickly. Checked the fans, both come on strong for about 5 seconds an then turn off. Then about 30 seconds later, they come on strong for 5 seconds and then turn off.

Checked connections and nothing looks burnt. Replaced 60 Amp fuse in position 39.

Is it for sure the fan assembly? Or is there anything else to check before i order it? I have MACTFORDEDGES install video ready, just wondering if there is anything else.

Thanks,

TJ

nothing is for sure over the internet, lol.  but check for codes first.  there may not be any or there may be a helpful P048X ...

whether it is the module or the fan motor (brushes), it is almost certain the fan assembly, especially on a gen 1.5.  the automatic climate control seems to tax them significantly more than on gen 1 units.

if you want, check the connections at the fan module, sometimes they get corroded/dirty, and could use a good cleaning/greasing.

you will need the nontow version of the assembly, preferably from Motorcraft if you pay to have the job done.

Thank you! I went ahead and replaced it and sure enough, thats what it was. Took about 15-20 mins. Bonus, this whole time i though that the AC was going bad because it has been noticeably weaker the last 6 months. It now feels like the day i bought it.

Also, I just realized it was YOUR videos i watched that helped me do it and diagnosed it for me. Specifically when you said overheating and poor AC at idol but fine driving. Thanks man, you're a legend!
