DrivingofftheEdge
I'm changing my PTU fluid this weekend, wondering if there is a solvent I could put in to do a quick clean out (Seafoam)?

What model year? Does it have a drain plug? I prefer not to use anything else buy the normal operating oil to flush and then final fill. DrivingofftheEdge
2017 Didnt check if there is a drain plug. I wouldn't flush it if it didnt have 1 anyway
DrivingofftheEdge
Drained PTU got about 350 MLS, which doesn't seem like that much. A quart has 946 MLS in it. Fluid was dark and stinky but shavings were at a minimum. Used a magnet in the cup and only found very very small metal shavings.

DrivingofftheEdge
Changed the fluid in the rear, well sucked it all out. Got almost 400mls. The rear has more than the PTU? That's weird.
DrivingofftheEdge
Temp sensor in transfer case didnt go over 180F on a 45 min cruise/stop and go. Seems happy.
Musclford
my 2016. 2.0 shows the rear has 4 x the fluid capacity as the PTU.... too bad they didn't add more capacity to PTU, it certainly could use more IMO If anyone wants to reference, here's a post I just documented my 2016 eco PTU fluid change.
flymore
Draining my PTU, exactly 400ml came out. Manual says should've got 530ml. When filled, could only get 400ml in. 3.5L v6
