Boxingtodd
Just recently aquired this vehicle; it has 150k miles. there were 2 factory keyfobs. One was completely beatup. I ordered an aftermarket smart key and programmed using the pocket in the center console. I then tested all keys for function and everything seemed to work okay. I was with my son yesterday and he went to the car without me and the vehicle started. I had the keyfob in my pocket, asked him if he had to enter code to unlock and he confirmed. I thought that was weird. this morning I was running late jumped in the car and left for work. When I arrived at work I reached into center console where my son usually leaves the keyfob and realized that it was left at home. I had stopped the vehicle and pressed brake and pushed start button and it started right up. I have another ford with the smart key and usually it will go into accessory mode, and give notification that there is no key detected. I noticed that the remote start was not working last week; but was not too worried since it is usually garaged. Has anyone ever had a similar problem with this system? Any place to start would be great.
akirby
If you’re sure all 3 key fobs are not near the vehicle then I would guess someone added another fob somewhere to support remote start. The dealer can erase all keys and only program the ones you have.
