my 2012 edge
I get this warning when I start my 2012 edge. It goes away after I start driving. I put a new serpentine belt on and a brand new battery. Auto zone says the alt. Is good. When I drive the car I use the torque app to check batt voltage and it is usually 14 volts. Any idea why I keep getting this warning thanks
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
could be the terminals are not secured properly, either on the battery or the alternator. but it may be in the early throes of alternator failure (worst case scenario). was it acting up before you put in the new battery? what prompted the change? Did you let the BMS relearn the new battery? Easy way is to unplug every aftermarket device, shut the engine off, lock the vehicle, and walk away for 8+ hours. During that time, the PCM will test the charging characteristics of the new battery. Otherwise it will use the old profile from the previous battery, which may not properly charge the new one. my 2012 edge
Yes it was acting up the battery died it was 3 years old. Hiw do you rest the bms? Is locking the vehicle overnight enough?

Is locking the vehicle overnight enough? yes. follow my instructions in the post above. should work. on the offchance that it does not, the dealer may have to manually reset the BMS thru software, OR you can do it yourself with Forscan for Windows + Extended License. Do you have a fuse you can pull for the remote start? If not, it is what it is, I guess.
my 2012 edge
I'll have to try pulling the fuse

14AWD3.5
What was weird for me this week is other than "No Key Detected", I never got any indication of a battery failure/low voltage either before or during my week long issue with a bad battery. no check engine light, code, alternator charging idiot light, nothing. There was no way that I could find to see any voltage display on any screen in my Limited. Until the battery went dead, I had zero issues or warning. Not cool at 11:15 pm after a long shift at work. Only after I removed the dead battery and switched it out for an rv battery that I had did I get a motor symbol on the dash.
Bertelle
I also have an issue with "Check Charging System Warning" light in 2012 Ford Edge Limited. I replaced the battery and altenator. The light still comes on, but it doesn't shut off like it did before new altenator. Most of the time it seems to come on when the air compressor comes on. Sometimes it's on for a second and others for a few minutes. I have no aftermarket additions and have left it untouched and locked for days. I'll try the forscan because I prefer to DIY. If the charge warning is coming on when the AC compressor is on, then check the aux belt tension.

enigma-2
Check the ends of the battery cable grounds. Bet you're going to find one corroded, probably on the engine block.
Cynthia Ogle
2013 fordd edge. "Check charging system" warning came on yesterday but my car was running/starting fine. In my way home today my radio went off and it read " battery saver system shut down." Everything shut down. I couldn't even turn on my flashers but my car was still running. I shut it off for about 5 minutes &everything came right back. I drove it maybe another 2 miles and same thing happens. I got it a little closer to home but she went down again but then was jerking real bad. I parked it. I'm thinking the alternator at first, now I'm thinking battery or battery cables. 😐
edjunior
Welcome to the forum Cynthia. Start with the easy stuff first. In this case, the battery. If you can get it out, take it somewhere and have it checked (Autozone, O'Reilly's, etc.). Also, if you can get a code reader, see if any codes are stored. I'm guessing there will be some. Let us know what you find out there, and we can go from there.
GinaVN
I have this issue right now with my 2014 Ford Edge. Alternator replaced in Sept 2023. Kept throwing “Check Charging System” …. Dealership replaced alternator and did all other routine maintenance. It wasn’t a daily driver from Sept 23 to June. And since then the light comes on and off. Well, Monday everything shut down. Car wouldn’t start. Was jumped. Advance said alternator and battery were allegedly fine. But maybe starter. Took to dealership, they report back just needs new battery. Battery replaced, 5 miles later same error. Go back to dealership. They “reset” everything. Same error again. Seems this is a known issue on this forum and others. But I’ve been to two dealerships without success. Anyone know what I need to specifically tell them when I take it back? No “aftermarket” anything, but vehicle does have remote start and seat warmers. I mention seat warmers only because they were also “fixed” in September 23. thanks!!!
