ARG
My 2008 Ford Edge remote start is not working. When the remote start fob is pressed for one second the following occurs 1. After a short pause the horn chirps once 2. Instrument cluster lights come on and there is a very quiet click 3. The passive theft warning light doubles its flash rate 4. The horn chirps one more time 5. Instrument cluster lights and headlights are on as if the car had started To end the false start session, I press on the brake pedal Things I've tried - Reprogram my keys as per the owner's manual instructions - Replaced the battery in my remote start fob - Watched a bunch of YouTube videos - Made a service appointment at the Ford Dealership for next week Any advice on how to fix it myself would be very much appreciated. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
If the PATS flashes faster, there is a communications problem. Usually, IME when turning the ignition on with a key, it is a "dead" fob. While the accessories (headlights, radio, etc) will work, the engine will not be allowed to start. Also, check for any codes set in the PCM. Codes can prevent startup as well if powertrain/safety related.
ARG
Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure what you mean by "IME", but as far as a dead fob / black think on your ring of keys that I press to initiate the remote starter, when pressed it lights a small red light on the fob / black thing. I have scanned the pcm for engine codes and found nothing. However I've noticed that various electronic sensors that feed info to the pcm don't always report on themselves when they are broken.
