The air fuel ratio is adjusted, shift points, line pressure, etc. It's a lot. I didn’t mean to imply that was all it changed. Just explaining that the main power boost came from advanced timing and/or more boost and why ethanol allowed that.
todd92
Turbo tunes add boost first and advance timing second. Almost all of the power gain is adding boost. Normally aspirated tunes can only advance timing, which is why the gains are so small. Shift points etc change the way the car feels but don't add any power. ShaunG
Speaking of mileage... lol will adding more power kill my gas mileage or will it just depend on driving habits? Ie... 2 identical cars one with tune one without tune going the same speed have different gas mileage?
todd92
My tuned cars get the same or better MPG for the same driving. Dipping into the boost is another story.
ShaunG
I thought that would be the case. I suckered my fiance in by saying we would get any money back in gas mileage ? she bought it lol

Might not add power but they absolutely make a difference in performance. Shift your vehicle even 500rpm too soon and measure the difference in performance you get. It’s significant. Start using corn and expect a fuel economy decrease. I went from about 20 mpg to about 16.5 mpg going from 93 to E50.
ShaunG
That's good to know! Thanks. Can shifting points be corrected using the paddle shifters?

LOL in my experience, the paddle shifters are more or less useless regardless of the tune
ShaunG
Ok. It definitely holds the gear much longer when using the paddles so I was hoping it would at least out perform the automatic after tune.
ShaunG
Hey guys! I got my dragy and tuner. Trying to get some goods before numbers. In very limited attempts the best I can get is 6 sec mark. What is the best way/ways to launch? I haven't turned t/c off yet.
Xtra
Turn off the traction control. Every record set for the Edge was made with the TC turned off.

ShaunG
I know a lot of guys that were getting these numbers out of their stock edge so I know there is a lot left in her. But for now this was my best stock 0-60(6.07) and with only three runs on my first tune with Unleashed this was my best(5.65). Tires now squealing on launch and it is a noticeable difference. Very happy with the results but still have a long way to go!
