dheinle
Hello, I just bought a used 2013 Edge with 82k miles. I got a check engine light and it is code P0299. Couple of questions. Is there any chance it’s something besides the turbo? If I really need to replace the turbo, any recommendations on what manufacturer to get or stay away from? How big of a job is this for a DIY’r? Thanks
Jlovett80
I am sure the turbo is perfectly fine, it’s the wastegate on these borg Warner turbos which fail. Unfortunately, the wastegates are not serviceable and the entire turbo assembly has to be replaced. It can be done at home, it’s not that difficult. You need to know the build date of your car to ensure you get the correct turbo which fits to your catalytic converter. I used a Stigan turbo and haven’t had any issues.
