thomashw
I have a 2011 Ford Edge Limited with Intelligent Access. One of my fobs stopped working properly, where it’s still working to enable the start/stop button and it still enables intelligent access to unlock the doors by grabbing the door handles. But none of the buttons work to remotely start the vehicle, lock/unlock it, open the trunk, or turn on the alarm. My other fob works correctly. I’ve tried changing the battery in the fob with the same result. I also tried to reprogram the fob but couldn’t get through the step where the start/stop button is supposed to begin rapidly flashing (step 5 in the owner’s manual procedure for programming spare intelligent access keys.) Any ideas? I’m not sure where to go from here. Edited August 9, 2020 by thomashw Simplify wording
enigma-2
As the other remote works perfectly, its isolated to this remote (nothing wrong with the car). The remote is sending its proximity signal, so the transmitter is working. That leaves a problem with only the the keys. What I would do is take the fob apart and check for broken contacts or misaligned buttons.
thomashw
I've taken the remote apart quite a few times and inspected the circuit board and buttons quite thoroughly and haven't been able to find anything out of the ordinary. I also checked the contacts between the battery and the circuit board and they look fine as well. Hmm...
jmr061
Its probably just a bad remote, Time for a new one. The fob buttons (ie lock, unlock, liftgate and remote start - if equipped) operate independent of the intelligent access and passive start features.
