my2k2zx2
I'm planning on changing the PTU fluid. What I'm seeing doesn't look like anything I've seen on other Edge PTU. The ones that I've seen had the fill and drain on the same side. I think mine has the fill on the side and the drain on the bottom and both appear to need a T50 to remove. Would that be the correct fill & drain plugs?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
I don't have a pic of the fill plug, but it seems you have identified them correctly, as a t50 is required to remove them. May be a struggle to remove the drain plug with the intake tubing in place, so be prepared to remove that tube first. Plus you don't want to make a mess if the fluid splatters all over the tube etc. Pic of drain plug:
my2k2zx2
Yeah, I think that's what I'm looking at for the drain. How easy is it to remove the intake tube? Or would it be enough to cover things with foil while I'm doing the drain/refill? https://imgur.com/GEndJjW Edited July 12, 2020 by my2k2zx2
bogmanglen
2017 Edge 2.0. I'm having trouble accessing the PTU fill plug...the black plastic tube is in the way, preventing getting leverage on the the T50. What is this tube? If I disconnect the points shown, can I move it enough to gain access, or do I have to remove the entire tube? How do I remove it? Any help appreciated. Thanks! AaronD
Wondering how you made out with the access issues on the drain and fill plugs on the PTU. Also, did you determine the plug was regular Torx, T50 size or was it the less common Torx Plus, in size TP50?
my2k2zx2
I followed this and there was plenty of room to access the drain & fill plugs. T50 is quite loose, TP50 is the correct size. My 3/8 ratchet did not provide leverage to get either plug to budge. It's snowing now so I'll have to revisit this when it's warmer. sean Johnston
Been having vibration from under the car while turning, after extensive research I've determined its most likely the ptu,to make a short story long the transmission shop says 450 for to pull it out. Gets it out sees the oil/ grease coming out the vent says I need a new1 at the tune of 1400 dollars he never opened it up to see what was going on inside. So I take it home open it up no oil to bee seen just a big grease ball,so I clean it out check the gears not a scratch on them no grinding in perfect condition, so I added a drain plug as 2010edge doesn't come with one filled it up with4oz. Of transmission fluid 8oz of 75/140 per the manual calls for 12boz of fluid, had it reinstalled drove 50 miles or so to let transmission fluid clean the rest of the casing draind and refilled with 12 0z ofb75/140 that fluid was black as night will drain again in another 1000 miles sorry theresbno pics wasn't planning on writing a message just wanted to say be careful of your mechanics I almost got charged for a 1400 dollar part I didn't need, bit now I can drain it as much as needed with added drain plug should never be an issue for the remaining life of the car which has 130,000 as of now gl everyone.
