snmjim
Can you swap these specific ecoboost engines as Plug-N-Play?
omar302
No mention was made of it here, as far as I recall. Seen a couple of threads on the Fusion Sport Forums, but couldn't find anyone who did it. Seems the talk is that the main reason for the power upgrade in the 3.0 vs. 2.7 was from the bigger Turbos & they can be retrofitted to the 2.7. Hope you get a better answer. https://www.fusionsportforums.com/threads/3-0l-swap-conversation.19145/ https://www.fusionsportforums.com/threads/2-7-to-3-0l-conversion.18393/ 1
Xtra
I have been a proponent of swapping the 2.7 for the 3.0 . And always thought that it should have be the engine of choice for the Sport and ST. They are both the same basic engine and it should just bolt in . The 3.0 is just a board and stroked 2.7. The Unknown part is the tuning And wire harness compatibility. The engine blocks of both are super strong and made of the Same materials that NASCAR, Pro-Stock drag racers , big diesel over the road trucks and World record land speed Record cars use . CGI blocks are the strongest available. A $2000 upgrade for Compacted Graphite Iron V8 Dart M blocks And the Ford has this CGI tech stock ??.

Ford 3.0 Specs I remember reading that when it first came out (that it is aluminum vs. CGI), but the specification pages for the MKZ, Continental and Explorer ST show CGI for the 3.0! Interestingly, the Aviator block material is not mentioned. @Xtra: From the FusionSportForums, seems they had figured the bigger Turbos from the 3.0 are where the main power increase comes from. This post links a few threads on the topic if you'd like to read more.
Gmandude
There should be some welding involved. There is one specific cross member that should change in addition to most of the obvious things. I will try to take a picture of it later tonight but on most models it seems to change. Can help with welding advice if needed although it’s been a few years. i wonder about how the ECU accessories where split up in the CANs...? snmjim
So the FACTS are in. Externally & material composition the 2.7 & 3.0 are EXACTLY the same. The differences lie internally with the Turbos, bore, stroke and ports. Even with the internal differences these parts alone are a direct bolt on. The motors ARE a one for one direct swap that doesn't require a single Mod aside from your Tuner adjusting the oil psi setting to 3.0 specifications within the Tune. This includes the wiring harnesses...??? Note: ZFG Racing & JC Perf Dvlpt have the hands on Spec specifics. Gmandude
Are you thinking you are going to have ZFG or JC or yourself Do the swap? Are you thinking a full swap or partial?

Xtra
Awesome news, JC Perf pushes the limits with the first Edge 3.0TT. Thanks for clearing up the confusion about CGI blocks and swapping the 2.7 for the 3.0. ? Edited August 16, 2020 by Xtra

dolsen
Looking on some of the salvage yard sites it looks like a low mileage 3.0 can be had for around $3k, freight included. would the 8F57 be a worthwhile addition? Both can be had for just under $5k

Besides that we only do bolt on Mods, no cutting, welding, etc. We specialize in sleeper builds...???
Gmandude
I agree. I fully rebuilt a engine once and have no desire to go down that road again... Let alone add in transmission and I’m out! In regards to the sleeper if I fall asleep all the time does that count as a sleeper? Haha.
