2008 Ford Edge limited transmission replacement

Hi I have a 2008 Ford Edge limited with 150k miles.  My transmission is dead it needs to be fully replaced.  I’m good with cars I rebuild them as a hobby but I have not seen any discussion online about swapping the transmissions on these cars.  Has anybody done it, have advice or maybe know the costs involved.  Thanks

I recently did mine (07 SEL FWD) and its a pretty involved job. The subframe has to come out in order to remove the transmission. It can be done with some jack stands, floor jacks and a engine hoist in your driveway/garage though. As far as cost, it depends on if you’re having it rebuilt, installing a new or used one. I had mine rebuilt. The rebuild cost me $800.00 and I had about another $200.00 in fluids and a new transmission mount. If you have any specific questions, let me know. OW.

Hey @Brett5 and @OtisWicker, I apologize for bringing up an old post but I'm looking for solid advice on purchasing a transmission replacement for my daughter's 2008 Ford Edge and this is the most relevant thread I could find. Where do you all recommend ordering a transmission for our cars and would you go with a used or remanufactured transmission? It's my daughter's first vehicle and it has 122k miles on it, not quite sure what caused her transmission to go out so early but definitely am not trying to replace it again. We need this vehicle to last her through college so at least 200k miles. If you all have any experience with these guys or have heard anything about them please let me know. Also, if you have any other retailers to suggest I'm all ears
