omar302
Came upon an interesting article (posted in a thread in F150Forum) about Engine Oil for Turbocharged Direct Injection Engines which are increasingly being the normal nowadays. Which also applies to Ford Ecoboost line of engines. In short, there is now a new Engine Oil Standard, API SN Plus, SP, & GF6, which have been designed to reduce Low-Speed Pre-Ignition. Going Ford Edge Owners Manuals, it seems Ford switched to the API SN Plus in 2019. The Oil Specification WSS-M2C946-B1 (US part number 5W30-Q1SP) instead of the previous WSS-M2C946-A (XO-5W30-QSP). On MotorCraft website, it is also stated "This oil also meets WSS-M2C946-B1 and SN PLUS; therefore it can reduce oil derived low speed pre-ignition." So it would be recommended to check for the newer oils regardless of your Ecoboost Edge's year. Look for an oil that is API SN Plus, API SP, or GF6. 1004ron
I've got a fair size stock of Mobil 1 that I buy when Costco runs the specials on the 6 qrt packs, and pleased to see it meets that spec. Not to forget the Mobil 1 mail in rebates that I get every year for the past 5 years. https://www.mobil.com/en-us/passenger-vehicle-lube/pds/gl-xx-mobil-1-5w30
