Shelbyman1
Hi guys... I have a 2008 Edge and I'm experiencing a "grumbling" sound from behind the dash after I turn off the car. I don't hear it while driving but it could be there. I have searched on here and elsewhere and found some good vids on the distinct clicking sound of broken gears in the hvac door acuators. Mine isn't making this loud distinct sound...like I said more of a searching or hunting kind of sound. Anyone dealt with this before?? Appreciate some help if you have. Thanks so much. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Barring any critters blend door or mode door actuators would be your best bet IF indeed from behind the dash. Could be something mounted on the firewall, maybe the brake booster. Can you localize it to driver or passenger side? Is the HVAC on at the time it happens? I waited to reply till now so I would have a chance to listen more closely to the sound and the location it coming from. I can only hear it once the car is shut off...key in off position or removed. It's coming from behind and below where the temp controls are located....I'm sure its in that specific area. It seems to me like the unit is hunting for rest position once shut off. Kinda like the older vacuum controlled units....this isn't vacuum controlled is it?? So in answer to your questions I'm sure its not critters....and its location is more centered than one side or the other.....like I mentioned I can only hear it when the HVAC is off with the power in the car off. Thanks again for your help on this.
