I opened the rear hatch and water was running out of the plastic inner cover in the corner and then some from the centre. Anyone else face this issue? omar302 Posted April 9, 2020 Report Share Posted April 9, 2020 Don't recall anyone had such an issue. Did it rain lately or had it washed? Could it be the rear washer fluid leaking inside? Also, make sure the 2 plugs at the bottom of the tailgate are still there and are still flexible as they have a "flap" on one side to allow water to go out. Gadgetjq Posted April 9, 2020 Report Share Posted April 9, 2020 Just a shot in the dark here. Pull the inside panels off the hatch and see if you can tell where the water is coming from. The topmost panel is the easiest to get off. All you need is a panel removal (plastic) tool or padded flat blade screwdriver. It's held on by clips and comes off easily. Just use the tool to pry it off all around the edge. The bottom panel is also simple to pull but you need to remove the cover(s) from the handle then remove a couple of small bolts first. With the handle off the panels can be removed the same way as the top one. If you can't spot the source right away (check the window washer hose as Omar suggested) have someone get in the back with a flashlight while you douse the hatch with a water hose. ThunderTruck Posted April 14, 2020 Author Report Share Posted April 14, 2020 Thank-you very much for the replies. Had time on the weekend and did a thorough search. Seals were all in good shape so then looked for what could cause water to be held up and sure enough the drain holes had become plugged. I don't have a garage but do keep it very clean, even at that it's amazing how crud builds up (kind of like the door drains). New routine is to include these in the rinse process.
