3dawgranch
You all might think I am crazy, but if I didn't have a recording of it, I would think I was crazy too. Intermittently, for hours after turning off the engine to our Edge, there is a ringing sound (3-4 seconds, every 30 seconds). The noise seems to be coming from the back of the front passenger side wheel area. If anyone can determine what this noise is, please let me know. We are coming up to the end of our warranty, and Ford dealers cannot reproduce. The sounds in question are at 6 seconds, 39 seconds and near the end of the recording at 1:32. Thanks!! car squeel.mp3 Edited March 10, 2020 by 3dawgranch
PaulSchott
Possibly the fuel pump? Try pulling the fuel pump fuse, Getting under the car close to the tank may help determine where it's coming from. Does your car have noise cancellation? I understand that it can do freaky things. 3dawgranch
Thanks Paul. Is the Edge fuel pump up front near the passenger side front wheel? Thought those were interior to fuel tank.
debb
I have the same sound, just started. Happens when the car is off after driving for a while. Sounds like an old fashioned telephone, rings about 3 or 4 times every 40 seconds. I moved the car and it stopped.
enigma-2
They reported something similar to this in the Explorer forum and it was traced to the 120 volt inverter. There's a TSB out on it. MC-10140282-9999.pdf 1
