Roof panel wind noise ???

2015 Ford Edge Sport, the small panel on the roof between the windshield and front of the sunroof seems to be coming loose. A few times it seems maybe a clip has come loose so I press int back down. It starts to oscillate at highway speeds making somewhat of a flapping noise. Now I can't get it to go away. Has anyone else experienced this and/or know of a fix ?

Same thing happen to my 2015, we ordered new clips and replaced all of them and added a good blob of silicone at each clip before snapping the part back in

Is this the part that you replaced? If so, do you recall how many there are?

How did you take that piece off? I'm having the same issue but I haven't figured out how to take it off to get to the clips without breaking something.

Hi, having the same exact issue now. Does anyone have any recommendations of how to fix it myself. I ordered the clips but unsure how to reinstall them. Thanks!

How sure are you that those clips will cure your issue? - where is the noise actually coming from?

 

The clips linked above in this thread are for the plastic trim piece just behind the top edge of the windshield - since a poor job of the windshield replacement I've been driving with one of these out and don't notice any issues.

Hello, First off, thank you for the quick reply! 

 

I am quite certain that this is the root cause of the issue. When I was driving, I heard a loud pop; this led me to pull over to notice the weather stripping and the white clip sticking out of the top small trim piece between the windshield and the moonroof. As seen below, it is the same white clip, and I am able to lift up that trim piece a significant amount. 

 

My plan is to replace the clips and the weather stripping myself, but I noticed that the trim piece is fairly easy to snap in half if applying too much pressure. I was just wondering if there is a certain technique for uninstalling these little white clips so I have access to install the weather stripping. And if there is a technique for re-installing the trim piece using these little white clips?

I haven't pulled mine off yet to replace the one white clip, so will look for tips from you on how to detach and re-install.

Hi all, I was able to complete the repair successfully! 

 

It wasn't the hardest repair I have ever done, but it also wasn't the easiest. If you take a plastic trim removal piece, the little white clips are very easy to pop off. The problem I faced when doing this repair was, as the manual stated, some come with little dollops of polyurethane in the corners, and my car was one of the ones that had this. It is a very tight spot to get a razor blade in there. I am, unfortunately, at college, so I have very limited access to tools, but I would recommend a spackle knife to get in there and to pull that polyurethane out. This is a very tedious process and takes a good amount of time.

 

Once that was finished, the whole trim piece popped off, allowing me to access the underside to install all of the clips. I got new clips from a Ford dealership, and I noticed a little upgrade was made to them. There is a little white piece that applies pressure to ensure that the clips don't fall out, like how mine fell out. You can notice the difference in the picture below. 

 

Once the clips were installed, some of the weather stripping came undone so I purchased new weather stripping at Home Depot and installed it. To reinstall the trim piece, you can simply line up the holes with the clips you installed on the trim piece and then apply some pressure; you will hear loud clicks for every clip you have. You must insert the clips into the trim piece, you can't put the clips onto the frame of the car. 

 

During this whole process, I got a little impatient undoing the polyurethane and snapped the trim piece in 2 places. I was able to silicone the pieces back together, it's not very noticeable, but I would recommend taking your time to not let this happen to you.
