mkaresh
Automotive News is reporting that Ford is providing a $500 factory-to-dealer incentive on the Edge SE. Such an incentive is not publicized, but if you ask about it the dealer is likely to pass it along to you. Ford is separately giving dealer salespeople bonuses that can reach $500. Ford claims the incentive is a good thing, because it means that demand for the pricier SEL and SEL Plus is running above projections, at about 80% of the mix. Edge Guide
Ford Motor Co. already is offering its first cash incentives on the new Ford Edge crossover, but the automaker says the move is a testament to the new vehicle's success. Earlier this week, the company began offering $500 in dealer cash on the low-end SE model with 17-inch rims, but not on models with 18-inch rims or higher trim lines. Ford spokesman Jim Cain said the move was driven by higher-than-expected demand for more expensive models. He said 80 percent of Edge buyers are opting for the SEL or SEL Plus, leaving some dealers with too many of the entry-level versions. CLICK HERE TOR THE ENTIRE STORY. sranger
Ford can spin it anyway they like, but having to put a rebate on a new vehicle less than two full months after a release is not a good sign... However, it indicates that a 1-2K rebate is likely by mid summer and even more likely by the end of the year...
robertlane
Seems like good news to me: the high end Edge models where the bulk of the profits are made from are selling well.
sim
People seem to be buying the higher trims (we did), so i can see why they are offering incentives on the lower trims to get them moving too. We got a $500 rebate for my wife having just finished graduate school - that was on an SEL+!
