Lightoller
Howdy, since this past Sunday I've been worried about my Power Liftgate and was hoping someone here would be able to put my mind at ease. As of Sunday I've had my Edge exactly 1 week and 1 day, so I get paranoid whenever something stange seems to start happening. What happened Sunday, was after travelling 50-60 miles I had parked and put the Power Liftgate up. Everything functioned fine with that, however when it went to go down, it would go almost all the way and then instead of latching, it would go all the way back up. I tried several times and it wouldn't close and latch. So I got frustrated and went back into the car and turned off the power liftgate and closed it manually. I then pressed the Lock button 2x (on my keyfob) but instead of getting the single confirmation beep, it beeped twice (telling me not everything was latched correctly, although it was). Anyway so a couple hours later when we returned to the car, I was still frustrated (Since the car was only 1 week old) and I decided to try it all over again, so I turned back on the Power liftgate, and up it went without problems.... AND Much to My Delight, it then went down and closed and latched perfectly, just as it should! So the problem seems to have gone away. I have tried it once every day since, and that problem has Not reoccured... BUT now (I promise, I'm finally getting to the main question, Sorry!) I noticed when I open the Power Liftgate when it gets fully opened it chimes 3x as if I was getting ready to close it. I know it is supposed to chime 3x prior to closing as a warning. But prior to this incident on Sunday I don't remember it chiming when I opened it??? So basically all I really wanted to know is, is this normal and I am just noticing it now because I am paranoid, and paying extra close attentio to it? Or is this actually a problem, and it shouldn't be chiming when opening? Any recommendations, feedback, or responses are greatly appreciated! I apologize for the length of this story/question. I am not good at just getting to the point (Apparently!) Anyway thank you very much for taking the time out to read this! Have a nice evening!! jpeckinp
I have an MKX, but the liftgate works the same way. Mine only chimes when its getting ready to close. Never when opening. I don't have any of your other problems but I do have the 3 chimes when then lift fully opens. I haven't really worried about it because I don't care for all the bells. But if I remember right when I first bought it I thought it beeped all the way up and down, my wife thought the same thing.

Stevea26
Its no big deal. My Taurus X has the PLG and has done the same thing as yours maybe two times in the year we have had it. By the way you dont have to turn it off to close it by hand. Just close it and it will reset when closed.
