Gadgetjq
Woulda, shouda, coulda called it Pony or....Pinto E? Calling it a Mustang might be worse than GM slapping SS badges on everything that came down the production line for awhile.

The point is they're trading on (and sullying) a decades old moniker. Then again, there was the Mustang II so....precedent.

Then again, there was the Mustang II so....precedent. It's a new sub brand strategy by Ford. There will be at least 3 Broncos - the Ranger based Bronco (2 door and 4 door), the smaller escape based Bronco Scout and a trucklet based on the Scout. There might be a pickup version like Jeep Gladiator down the road. You already have F series representing F150 and Superduty. It would not surprise me to see Ranger named F100 Ranger and added to the sub brand mix. Mustang already has unique variants in the GT350 and GT500. There will also be a hybrid Mustang in addition to the Mach-E. It might piss off a few Mustang purists but you can't deny the global name recognition and performance pedigree that comes with calling it Mustang. I think it would be a different story if it didn't offer amazing performance. Whether it works out like they expect - we'll just have to wait and see.
