yavuzsaka
Hi Everyone, I’m newbie at this forum and FORD. I would like to explain what I’m going through with my Sync 3 system on 2018 Ford edge (warranty void). I bought this car with knowing that sound system did not give any sound out including radio, Bluetooth calls and navigation. So, I put my OBDII scanner and check if there is any fault code. And I have seen “Audio control module lost communication” fault code on it. Symptoms were: -Audio off message was on sync 3 system -Radio did not turn on -GPS did not have any signals -Bluetooth calls could hear me (microphone works) but no speaker output from the car. -I could not be able to get in to diagnostics screen with holding Eject+Seek forward button. Then I took it to dealer to understand what the issue is. Ford took 2 days to check and they told me that Audio control module is dead and they need to replace it. And it is $3000. I kindly said thank you guys and took the car from the dealer. I removed the audio control module myself and tried couple of fixing myself. For example, I visually checked the circuit board to see if there is any defects. Then, I cleaned the circuit board and connectors with a contact cleaner. Put it back on and did not change anything. Next day, Rush to junk yard to find the same part. Part number for audio control module was: CQ-FJ64E1UME I found the similar part number which is CQ-FJ64E1UMB. So, there is only last letter was different than my old module. I said, let’s give it a try and Booooom. It worked. I thought it was an easy happy ending. But Nooooo. Weirdly, my rear left and right speaker did not work. Therefore, I made this video to show what my current problem is. I got into Sync 3 diagnostic mode to test and I did a “Speaker walk around test”. What I found out that there is 2 different type of speaker walk around test. First one is in Audio control module (AHU) diagnostics tap. Other one is in DSP diagnostics tap. https://youtu.be/KaGaLJVOOZI So, first speaker walk around test with AHU failed on rear left and rear right speakers. But DTC speaker walk around test was fine. Please check the video for more detail. However, I’m sure that there is no connection problem with the speaker. Question are: 1- What is the difference between AHU speaker walk around test and DTC speaker walk around? 2- Is this issue might be related to new audio module that I installed with different part number? 3- Is there any parameter in Forscan to align my new AHU to fix it? akirby
It's possible the "B" version is the base version and doesn't support the rear speakers. Whereas the "E" version does. DSP may only be testing the amplifier connection which is fine but the head unit may not be putting out a signal.
