baggermike
Looking to replace these loud Michelins. So I hoped I could ask for some advice based on people experienced driving an Edge. In the past I've used Coopers with great luck. Then we bought a Camry and found Pirelli's worked best for that car. I've read some feedback about Continentals and most claim they just don't last. We have a '15 AWD Edge. We live on a road in Michigan that may not get plowed out for 2 or 3 days. Looking for a very good tire in the snow and water, that is quiet, in the 60k mileage range. Thanks
akirby
I've never had Michelins that were noisy. The OEM 21" Pirellis on our MKX got really noisy at 20K miles but at the time there were no other all season alternatives so we're on our second set. So far so good.
onyxbfly
The OEM Michelins are rated for 60k miles. The first layer is a softer compound and is good for 15-20k. The second layer is harder and subsequently firmer and are noisier. Unfortunately they remain that way for the duration.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Both the Michelin Premier and Defender will work well for you. The Defender is longer lasting but the Premier is no slouch.
baggermike
Its my wifes car, and she hates the noise. Tread depth is getting scant so will need new rubber before the snow flies. But yeh, we're down to the harder rubber by now. Last set I bought was for the old F150, and those were Cooper Discover AT3 LT's. They were great for that application. But based on things I've read around here Coopers are not favored much. fishx65
Went from stock Latitudes to Yokohama YK 580s to Continental LX 20s. The Yokos were junk but I wouldn't hesitate to go with the Latitudes again. I got just over 60,000 out of the stock Michelins. Got about 10,000 on the Continentals so far and they've been just fine.
fishx65
If you're still looking, Discount Tire Direct has a decent deal on the Continental LX20s (245/60/18 $144.00 per tire) today. Flash sale $100.00, DT Credit Card $40.00 and $70.00 Continental rebate. So $210.00 off is pretty good these days. They'll always match this same deal at your local Discount Tire store. Rebates are really easy to do online and I got the prepaid cards in about 6 days.
