hilokamper
2011 Edge Limited (72k MILES) Replaced SAS (Steering Angle Sensor) was getting Code P193C. Cleared code with Forscan (had to use reset all adaptions to clear) no warning lights (DTC) until I restarted car. Upon Restart all the same warning lights came back on BUT I'm not getting any DTC's showing up in Forscan. I'm using latest Forscan software update. Warning Lights I'm getting are: Brake, ABS, Stability Control, Stability Control Off at the bottom of dash. PLUS the warning popup on the left side: "Service Advance Trac, Check Brake system. Anything I can do to pull more DTC codes ? also do I need to do a SAS calibration since I replaced the Angle Sensor ? I Can't see anything in Forscan to do it (although I've seen on a Ford Forum that Forscan can do it on Superduty trucks.) If I had a bad Wheel Sensor or Cracked Tone ring wouldn't I get DTC codes in Forscan relating to the individual issue ?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Per Buck Newby's video, no calibration needed after SAS replacement
hilokamper
I saw that Video before I started my Replacement. I didn't see where she mentions anything about calibration / relearn. Her's is an older model the SAS module is a different # and connects different than mine did (mine snaps into the back of the Clock spring and is mounted as a 1 piece unit). Since Forscan doesnt have any procedures to so for my Year, I'm guessing it still does not require. Just wanted to be sure I'm not missing it in forscan. Still searching why I'm getting DTC's I've had a few white knuckle experiences in the last few weeks driving with all this rain in South Florida. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
The same procedure applies for 2007-14. No calibration needed. Are you getting the same DTCs afterwards? Tone ring/wheel speed sensor issues are starting to crop up on 2011-14 MYs, so you should get eyes on them and see if there is an issue. bb56
I know this is an older thread but I thought folks should know that when I broke the wheel speed sensor while changing a rear wheel bearing in my 2011 AWD limited, I had to wait a few days to get the replacement. During that time, all the same lights were on and the "Service AdvanceTrac" message came on every time I started the car. My new part is supposed to be here today or tomorrow, and I hope I don't have to reset the ABS or anything. UPDATE: It was plug and play simple. Once installed (10 minutes) all my warning lights on the dash went back to normal without having to reset anything. HoltLD
I have 2013 Lincoln Mkx basically a ford edge. I have all the same issues. I have replaced the wheel speed sensors and the SAS and everything cleared for a couple weeks. Today all the same lights pop up and still getting the P193C DTC any suggestions? Thanks,
PatrickGuinalia
Hey guys! Also reactivating the topic, I had the same problem on my Edge AWD 2014 3.5. The car was off, I simply turned it on and the parking brake, ABS, traction control and stability control lights were on, accompanied by two warnings on the left screen of the dashboard: check brake system and advancetrac service. (picture 1) The codes shown on the forscan were P193C and U3000-49. (picture 2) When searching here on the forum and also in various videos on the internet, many people recommend replacing some internal components of the ABS module. However, sometimes this warning does not occur, and no warning light comes on on the dashboard, which appears to be an intermittent error. So I'm still unsure whether to disassemble the part and send it for repair, as it's a very expensive service and I'm afraid it won't be resolved. Yesterday I disabled the AdvaceTrac, ABS and TCS options in forscan, and the error message on the left screen 'check brake system' does not appear. In this case, with these lights deactivated, another code showed on the panel: U0415:56-2F. After researching, he led me to a person who discovered a problem with one of the ABS sensors on the wheels. (picture 3) Now I'm in doubt as to what the reason for the problem would be, because the mechanic recommended replacing the abs module, but I have three codes: P193C and U3000 together, and when these are erased and their indications are turned off in the forscan, U0415 appears. The car's brakes work normally, when traveling or in urban traffic, no problems when using the brake pedal, no strange noises or anything like that, everything is normal with or without the warning lights. dabangsta
I would spend the time to look at all the ABS sensors and wiring, and since you can data log, show each wheels ABS speed and see if one isn't correct to help determine which one it might be. Hopefully someone can post the error code breakdown for the :56 part and what status of 2F is to help. If the ABS module is getting incorrect data it might be causing it to also set a code, I know it says it is an internal fault but if an ABS sensor is grounding (in some cases the wires are too short or too long and wear on suspension parts, in the rear I think) might cause it. Hello friend! I tested all the ABS wheel speed sensors and they are correct, no sudden changes even with the warning lights on. Test: The code U0415 seems to only appear when I disable ABS, traction type and traction control in the FORScan. If I enable the options normally, it disappears and only P193C and U3000-49 remain. Maybe U0415 it's just a warning of incorrect panel configuration. Is there a test for the steering angle sensor, before definitively condemning the ABS module for repair?
