tarunck
I have a leased 2017 Ford Edge SEL in Maroon color.Recently my wife scraped the corner of the rear passenger side door while parking. The damage is at the corner of the door where it closes flush with the quarter panel. Insurance quote was 3k$ which I think is a lot. Looking through the parts they are planning to replace the door skin and paint it and labor costs a lot. Looking online for the entire door (door shell) it costs 422$ plus 160$ shipping. I was wondering if its much more cost effective to replace the door my self by getting it painted at a body shop and reuse the trim/switches/speaker and other components. I would like to get the experts advice on this forum. I have all the tools for the job. Also it would be great if some did similar job for me to assess the complexity Please advice. Thanks in advance.

akirby
Ouch. I don't think that will buff out. It would be cheaper to get the door shell and have it painted and install it yourself but you'd have to do the alignment which can be tricky. Personally I'd let insurance take care of it or get another quote to see if someone would do it cheaper.
PaulSchott
Sure, "your wife did it" LOL. I agree about saving money, paint match might be tough without blending.
