wthrower
Do any of you have any info or guidance on how to effectively and correctly paint the dash. I am going to go for a Matte Black or a really dark grey. I know that the dash is factory painted and not molded in the color....so in theory, I should be able to do this. Basically, what kind of prep would I do and what kind of paint should I use? I want to get it as close to the 2008's darker colored dashboard as possible. thanks!!! We use Sem at our shop , you will need to remove from vehicle to do it properly. you need to scuff it with a scotch pad and then use an adhesion promoter similar to primer then paint . several light coats work best . if you do a heavy coat your gonna have runs . also make sure you use the adhesion promoter or it will bubble as well. 818EDGE
I recently changed to polarized sunglasses and am amazed at how much the glare was reduced. That may be something you want to try before doing something as drastic as painting the dash. It just might help you out........

Lex Talionis
to each his own.. but I really cannot fathom painting a dash board... I mean, pulling that sucker out and.... ugh... seems like a really potential PITA project with questionable results. BUT, I would love to see photos if you actually try and do this.. LarrysEdge
The mere thought of this gives me haunting flash-backs to "Unique Whips", and their judicious use of spray-paint on just about everything. -Larry
Stumpalump
I haven't notice too much glare comming off the dash. Did you or maybe a detail shop put Armor All on the dash? Thats a big No-No. If you think it may have been coated then look into how you can get it off. Alcohol? I know mineral spirits wont hurt the plastic dash but that stuff stinks. Try a scotch bright pad on the dash to scuff up the shine before you paint it but if you do paint it then paint it a flat color for sure. bill0754
Have you considered purchasing a dash topper? I saw one in a 500 and asked where they got it because it was so nice. Looked like suede, and a very high quality and fit. I checked out their website....see if this might be a better solution for you. The site is: http://www.dashtopper.com/shop.net/Home.aspx Check out the suede versions.....really nice! That Sedona Sueda version looks pretty good and really not that expensive for that amount of coverage. :shades:
akirby
I have a lot of glare off my dash board. Especially after the Amorall..... I hope you're joking. Never put armour-all on the dash of any vehicle.

Lex Talionis
Polarized sunglasses? oh hell, just be glare free if you roll with a pair of these and armor-all not needed either
