HockeyShot39
I'm looking to buy a pre owned Sport, with all the additions. It's at about 3,500 miles. I went to test drive it yesterday and the AC did not work at all(they said it needed to be re charged but would do a check to make sure there is no leak), it was about 75 degrees out. My friend (who works at an auto shop) opened the lid and found oil/grease marks in the engine bay area. We asked about it and the sales guy said there was an oil pan issues, and they replaced the whole engine because of it. They deemed it to be defective. They offered a 1 year manufacturers warranty on the engine it self. There were also a bunch of scratches around the car and knocks on the rims. They were asking 29,900 and 2500 for their top warranty that includes everything except maintanence and cosmetic damage. We expressed concern about something else possibly happening and the fact that the coolant level was under the Min line as well as the A/C not working on a basically new car. They also told us the odometer was wrong at 3500, that it was actually around 300-400. They knocked 1000 off the warranty bringing it to 1500 for 100k miles. I did leave so I could think about it. Is this a good deal? Is the engine odometer not matching an issue? any thoughts or tips would be helpful. Thanks Edited June 7, 2019 by HockeyShot39

I thought if they replaced the engine it would be fine? The AC looks like it just needed to be re charged.
akirby
The engine replacement itself isn't an issue to me. The dirtiness and the A/C problem says to me the repair was sloppy so you don't know what else they forgot to do or did wrong. The mileage in the cluster being wrong doesn't make sense and wouldn't be connected to an engine replacement. I don't think you're getting the whole story. There are dozens of other similar vehicles available - why take a chance?
PaulSchott
My wife's father owned a used car lot back in the 70's. His favorite expression was "There's an ass for every seat." The salesman will tell you anything to get you to buy. Please find another vehicle so you can start your ownership without any doubts. So do you think that’s a bad deal as well Edited June 7, 2019 by HockeyShot39
