wendal
Just bought a 2011 edge limited My question is a navigation question. it says navigation in the upper right corner of the main screen. But when you push it. It only shows the campus. I am missing the sd nav card. It had the A4 card packaging in the glove box. I don't see a navigation error message. So I am confused. Does this edge have navigation or not?
akirby
What do you mean “it only shows the campus”?
candurin
I believe the OP means “compass”. You will only receive compass indications if the SD card is not in the media slot. MFT will show you the map/proper navigation once you insert an SD card (A10 being the most recent). Edited May 12, 2019 by candurin
wendal
Yes sorry about the auto correct. I am going to get a sd card for it. Which one should I get? A4?
candurin
Uh... A10?
wendal
So I can just buy the A10 and it's good to go? Will I have to update the software?
candurin
No. A10 maps can be used on any firmware version. If you want to update the firmware, then you can do that from the ford website (syncmyride.com). You’ll need a USB Drive for that.
bb56
Syncmyride.com says A15 is the latest and last Nav update for Sync 2 Version 3.5 Update 3.10. It's obvious to me that these folks are not software developers. This update would have been labeled 2.3.05 (version 2, sync version 3.05 to version 3.10) So it's not clear if 3.5 is newer than 3.10. I'm following the instructions now, but it is not clear (i.e. doubtful) that it will update the Nav version. Hunting around the links, it says I can buy A15 for $150... probably as a download but not sure. It also does not give any prerequisites for A15. Do I need Sync 3.10 for A15? Release notes would have been handy. I remember Sync getting an update in the middle of the nght while driving through Connecticut. The whole screen went dark while using nav. I thought it crashed and died. While I was looking for a place to pull over, the progress bar showed up, so I continued on driving and after what seemed like a very long time, the screen cam back. Nav picked up wherre it should have. Seamless, hands ff update, but a warning would have been nice. dabangsta
Since what you call SYNC 2 they call MyFord Touch, and they did versions from 1.x to 3.10, it is an okay versioning method. Ford US no longer seems to have this information, but it can be found here: https://www.ford.co.za/support/how-tos/sync/sync-with-myford-touch/check-the-sync-with-myford-touch-software-version It is an SD card, and if you go to the site and look at the documentation you need version 3.5.1 or newer to use A15/B15 (which is the 2024 maps and last one they will be releasing). https://ford.navigation.com/product/Catalog/Catalog_Ford_Edge_2011/U-S-AND-CANADA-SYNC-2-NAVIGATION-SYSTEM-MAP-UPDATE-VERSION-A15/sku/GM5T-19H449-AJ/en_US/FordNA/USD has a link to checking and what version you need. They can be had from other sources for much less, but I am not sure if they are legitimate, copies, or scams.
