You can hear them starting to open around 5-6 psi boost and fully open at 7. I had the bypass valves put in behind the rear axle and the piping routed from the valves around the muffler and spliced back into the exhaust pipes. Oh you mean boost activated cutouts. i was a bit confused there.
vmaxbaby
Called Magnaflow today to ask when the exhaust would be out for the edge and he said there shooting for July 1st and call back than. I have Magnaflow on the Shelby and love it and had magnaflow on the excape as well. For the shelby with long tube headers and catlless x pipe they sound great on the excape would have liked them to be a little louder at WOT. Really was excited about the S-type from borla but hearing there is drone inside I don't want that unless at WOT I would be okay but normal driving would rather not hear it all the time. vmaxbaby
Just called Borla in CA. So ask the sales buy does the S-type drone and he said NO so told him about the issue here on this forum and what he thinks could be the issue is that the exhaust doesn't exit out to through the bumper and because it is a few inches away that the sound waves could be bouncing off the bottom of the edge and causing this extra noise in cabin. So thinking adding a few inches to the end of the pipe might be the fix to get the sound out of the bumper and not under the edge. Now the next question would be if an extension is done which would be very easy from any exhaust shop would having the pipe now in the cutout of the bumper will that heat cause discoloration to the bumper or the heat melt it ? For trucks and cars when they exist under the bumper they have that dual layer exhaust tip that does get hot but not as much as bare raw exhaust tubing? What do others think ? handfiler
Borla usually hits the mark when it comes to sound and performance but there are always exceptions. I'd hate to spend that kind of money and not be happy with the sound or have a drone issue. One thing is for certain, it will never sound as sweet as a Stelvio Quadrifoglio V6. ? eddie368
I am installing my Borla exhaust tomorrow,so I will wait until I hear it before any mods. but I will try two options 1. Will be to extend the pipes back closer to the exhaust opening at the rear bumper but heat damage could be a problem.2. A short set of turn down pipes that don't show below the bumper should direct the exhaust and noise down and away from the car!

I agree with it not sounding like the Stelvio QV.
vmaxbaby
The guy (borla sales) told me to go listen to a F150 with a 2.7 engine and he said that would be about 95% what it would sound like in the edge ST. Not sure that is an accurate claim but after listening to it I love the sound. But now seeing Eddie368 is doing his also that is even better. Please make us a Video Eddie we all want to hear this exhaust on the ST
vmaxbaby
Has anyone made a sound clip yet of there exhaust? Was thinking about the MRT and the resonator delete. Cost would be $ 800.00 but if the borla has a drone this might be an option. My friend has a F150 5.0 (totally different I know) but he has the S-type that borla makes for our cars and at 75-80 mph you can hear it with no radio on but at volume 4 and above you hear nothing. Now when he stands on it you hear it than but normal driving it is great. It was pricey I think about 1,300.00 or something like that from summit. vmaxbaby
That sounds fine with out the resonator now wonder how that would work in combination with the mrt mufflers
vmaxbaby
Ordered my borla exhaust today so sometime next week the ST won''t sound like it is a Prius. Once I have it will post up all the details and also a place to get it that is cheaper than summit and free shipping. Working with the owner of a speed shop that is a reseller and will give all the details soon. Also of interest this shop will be selling parts for the Edge ST in the future.
