Steering Wheel Radio Button Replacement

Recommended Posts

Yesterday, my wife discovered that when you press "volume down" on the radio button, the volume increases, and when you press "volume up", it changes the station. I am assuming that the buttons need to be replaced. Can this be done (and if so, how), or do I need a new steering wheel?

I replaced the buttons in my F150, which look identical to the buttons in our '10 Edge.  Not sure what yours look like.

On mine, I pulled the airbag, which was easy, then pried out the old buttons, which was difficult to do without jacking up the steering wheel.  I used a plastic pry tool to get it started, then used the pry tool as a backer to pry against once it stated to move.

Had the same problem on a 2014 Escape.  Replacing the button fixed it after the dealer first used the wrong button then neglected to actually test it before giving it back, prompting a call to the owner who promptly picked it up, dropped off a loaner, fixed it then delivered it back to the house.
