Navigation screen won’t stay dim

Recommended Posts

Just joined so I’m hoping I’m not posting in the wrong spot.

2011 Edge Limited AWD with all options.

I don’t like a bright nav screen, so I have had the “Auto dim Manuel offset” on the third dash to the left, which is a comfortable brightness. The last few months, the brightness resets to as if I had it on the first dash to the left of 0. But the dash will still show the third one, even though it resets to brighter.

This has been going on for months  now. Any ideas? I’ve played with all the display settings and every night or other night I have this issue.

And i I can’t seem to upload the video I wanted to. 15 seconds from an iPhone 7+ showing the issue

Set the dim to day or night then go back to Auto. This happens every about 12 hours of run time as the Sync system (MyFord Touch - APIM) restarts while the car is off.

You can know that it had restarted when the settings icon will take you to the clock settings instead of the last settings menu, usually display for me. Also, if you had SMS notifications set to text to speech it also would reset to the default setting.  This has been going on for a long time. Faced it in my 2011 MKX & now 2016 Edge (yes with MyFord Touch. Export model). It is a bug that has never been addressed by Ford. Probably due to not being complained about.
