goslats
A/C cools nice while car is moving (87 here in Orlando) if I stop and idle for a few minutes ac compressor turns off. Car started overheating today while in a car wash line. I let it cool down for about 10 minutes and the coolant temp went back to normal. Drove it home with no stopping and it did fine. I swapped the cooing fan relay with an identical one we never use(Rear window defroster LOL) Anyway neither cooling fan comes on at all. Do I need to replace the whole cooling fan unit or is there something else to test that might isolate the problem? Thanks!
goslats
I unplugged the controller harness and top fan harness , shot some contact cleaner on connections and both fans are now working as they should. Hope this helps and keeps somebody from replacing cooling fan assembly. ?
goslats
Well that didn't do it. Still not always coming on when it should. If I wiggle the pigtail a little at the fan they will come on. Does anybody know if I can get a replacement wiring harness for the 3.5 on a 2012 Edge? Thanks! WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Can't you just ziptie or ducttape it in place? Or are the wires/pins coming loose in the connector? If you have enough mileage on your Edge, you may be looking at a fan assembly replacement anyway. Closest thing I have found is this https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,2011,edge,3.5l+v6,1446671,electrical-connector,radiator+fan+motor+connector,2556 So I am sure the exact connector you need, if not this, is out there. GM1
Hi, I have the exact same thing, my connector from the relay to the fan looks like this (see picture), How did you fix it? Thanks
