amg17 Posted March 5, 2019 Report Share Posted March 5, 2019 Greetings! I have inherited my father's 2008 Edge with 30,000 miles on it. He kept it garaged, meticulously maintained, and I have very much enjoyed driving it (except for the gas mileage-can't get above 16.5 mpg). Couple of days ago check engine light came on, started running very rough. Low and behold the mechanic said it needs pcv valve, coil, etc. etc. etc. to the tune of $1100! I am flabbergasted, but he has been my mechanic for over 20 years and I trust him completely. Buy online at any Ford dealer, or on eBay. Part number ba5z12259a Don't need a heated PCV valve, just the regular one, saves a tiny bit there as well. amg17 Posted March 15, 2019 Author Report Share Posted March 15, 2019 Update- turned out it was the timing belt, had to rebuild engine, $2400. They said it's a known issue and gave me a copy of the service bulletin. Why wasn't there a recall, i want to know!
