wthrower
Hey Guys..and Gals. First post. Anyways...I would love to get my grille painted Matte or Flat Black. I am planning on either 20 or 22 inch American Racing Marin wheels in Matte Black...so i think this will look pretty sweet on a Carbon Edge. My question is: I live in Socal...so is there a shop/price that any of you can recommend to complete this with paint or powdercoating? and Is it possible to do it yourself with paints from Lowes or Home Depot. And how could this be completed to ensure the most durable finish? I searched this post, but need further assistance. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?sho...rille&st=20 Here are some pics below of what I like. Thanks in advance!!!! Lex Talionis
rims I would buy done in the style/color you wish of course (those blue ones look like on that Edge I think, and they did not even trick out a Limited for heavens sake)... matt black rocks no doubt & would have been the ideal choice for the matching grill work. yes, you could easily paint that grill yourself & yes with store bought rattle can paint. could you do it as pro as a pro could and streak/run free.. not likely. but it is simply a matter of - as it is just basic plastic - of removing grill, scuffing the area to be painted with light sand paper, clean down debris, taping off the logo (tough to do a good tape job on a circle/oval), prime, paint, reinstall. I have done this exact thing - matt black as well - to a bezel (kind of like the grill) on an original 1974 FJ40 and it turned out awesome. in lieu of this, I would not see the need for a specialized shop in any way to do this. this could be done by any body shop no doubt - simple process. if you do not want to paint, make it easy and just take them the grills. and, no powder coating for plastic. Foord
Why doesn't Ford just make a "blackened grill" ?
Lex Talionis
Why doesn't Ford just make a "blackened grill" ? well where then would they stop: black, green, red, blue, orange, yellow, pink, white.... just not realistic for them
