Racko
Hi everyone. New to the Forum. I have a 2007 Edge SEL Plus. I want to replace the stereo with an aftermarket Touch Screen. I have purchased the radio unit, Pioneer, MVH-300EX thru Amazon Prime. . I had an estimate to install it and I can't believe what the shop is going to charge!!! I have perused YouTube vids to get an Idea of the level of effort. From what I have viewed / read, its pretty straight forward. However, I am not sure what parts a really necessary. One video I observed, I was able to capture parts they used. I have priced those out with Crutch-field and Amazon. The shop provided me a list of parts needed and I can't really justify those based on what I have seen. I do want to preserve the Steering Wheel controls. Also, not sure if this model has the factory sub woofer. I hope this makes sense..... Just looking for an idea what parts I truly need to pull this off. The parts list *I* have is this: RadioPro 4 interface for ford (CAN) Metra 99-5807 DBL Din Kit the universal Antenna adapter. I am sure that there are a few that have completed this swap. Is it possible someone could share this with me? I would appreciate it! Many thanks! Racko
fishx65
Very easy job but I'd grab the factory radio removal tool if the Metra kit doesn't include them. Just take your time wiring the connectors to the new head unit on a workbench and it should be plug and play. Wish all head unit swaps were as easy as this one!!!! Michowski
Buy the mounting kit. Buy the wiring adapter so it can be plug and play. Might need additional harness to be able to use steering wheel controls. Depends on your model vehicle features. Buy trim removal tool. Everything else is just uninstall and install. Dogg
There are a lot of aftermarket AndroidHead Units our there (esp from China), which are plug and play (you may also need a Canbus adapter as well), and come complete with fitment bezel. Seicane.com offers a few, but there are more affordable options at Aliexpress. The picture attached is for the 2015 to 2017 Edge
