3.5 running issues

Hi I am new to this site and am trying to trouble shoot my daughter's 2008 Ford Edge SEL model It is running very rough with greatly reduced power in the last 7 months I have replaced the fuel pump also the coils and spark plugs It is throwing a number of codes P0306  P0206 P2272 P0316 P0 1000   I am being told that this is an indicator that the computer is bad as this is an expensive part I would like to have someone more knowlegeable than me to confirm this  If this is the case where is the best place to purchase a computer The number on it is 8T4A-12A650JE   Thanking everyone in advance for their help

The PCM can usually be repaired, you can send it over to circuitboardmedics.com for evaluation.  If it cannot be repaired by them, it only costs you shipping, IIRC.

 

P1000 is a code that is set when the PCM is reset, such as when battery is disconnected for an extended period of time.  Not necessarily an indicator of issues.

 

You will need to verify that the coil drivers in the PCM are intact, otherwise you are stuck in a loop replacing the coils as they will get burnt out time and time again.

 

P0206 is pointing to a fuel injector problem, either in the harness or with the injector itself.  I would suspect injector unless you have pest-related damage to the engine wiring.

Replace all 6 injectors at one time to make it easier on yourself.  Motorcraft or Denso should work well.

 

P2272 is an o2 sensor stuck lean.  This is the post cat sensor on the radiator side.  Cats are usually the last to fail, and the problem originates upstream - pcm, coil, plug, injector, etc.  So fix the upstream problem first, then clear codes and see what comes back.

Loss of power could also be clogged cats, but no code yet, thankfully.

Unlikely, probably happened over time, did not get noticed, and added up.  Pretty typical today, with computer systems extracting every last drop from physical systems, and owners/drivers expecting to see a check engine light for the smallest of problems.  CELs are reserved for occasions when the computer cannot overcome a fault in the system.  Thus they MUST be taken seriously when seen, temporary or not.
