Joshmsab
I have a 2008 Edge with Sync 1. No navigation (although it has the gps antenna on top?) I recently purchased a Pioneer head unit (AVIC-8200) and a wiring harness from Maestro to help me retain all the Sync features. But I need to splice into a blue/ orange wire between the steering wheel and sync module and I don't know where the module might be. Can't find a diagram online. Any links or info would be greatly appreciated. Also, can I replace my sync module with a Sync 3 compatible one? And if so, what benefits would that bring me? Tim Mallon
Sync 3 would bring carplay and android play, you can stream maps from smart phone. I have an sync 3 non bag APIM that I will be selling. You would need the screen as well. Sync 1&2 need a newer screen.
vankingma
Sync 3 is it’s own head unit with an 8” touch screen, so you couldn’t use it in conjunction with the pioneer. I don’t know much about the sync 1 unit, but I would imagine it’s near the stereo behind the front bezel where your head unit will eventually go. Sync 3 requires some extra hardware to get running and some “programming” values into the car with a special cable, which is manageable, but requires some work. There are different levels of plug and play sync 3 upgrades available at different price points, but if yo want to use your head unit, Sync 3 isn’t an option.
