timfountain
I have a menu in the vehicle settings for auto start stop, which is checked, but the car never auto starts/stops when at a light etc. I am not too bothered if I don't have the feature (IO it is a PIA) but curious whether it should be working. Comments appreciated. TIA - Tim
akirby
Do you have an A button somewhere on the dash or console to turn it on/off? Even if you turn it off it resets to on when the vehicle restarts. The owner’s manual lists a long list of reasons why it may not stop the engine including a weak battery and cold engine temperature. akirby
I’ve also found that it’s sensitive to brake pressure. If you only use a light pressure on the brake pedal it won’t turn it off. That’s actually very handy since you can use this to make it stop when you want or not in certain situations (turning left e.g.).
timfountain
No 'A' button anywhere on the dash. Was it an option? TIA - Tim
timfountain
Looking at the brochure for the MY 18, it looks like it was not installed on SEL AWD models. Only SE FWD.... https://www.ford.com/services/assets/Brochure?make=Ford&model=Edge&year=2018&postalCode=25508

Which begs the question as to why the option was in the menu? They don't normally do that.

Why put a menu option for something that is non-functional, and why I started scratching my head....
jmr061
You probably have an option in the cluster for auto engine off or engine auto off... This is not the start/stop technology you are thinking of.

omar302
That is for turning off the engine in case of a long idle period, not sure it was 30 minutes or not. Even if you disable it, it will only be disabled for the current engine cycle (next time you restart the engine it will revert back to enabled). It is meant to turn off the engine in case you forgot to, which might happen with people not yet used to push button start.
timfountain
Ah got it. Poorly worded by Ford IMHO, but that must be it.
