redundant
Against all common sense, I discovered while I was reading through the owners manual for my new Edge Limited FWD, that it's fuel tank is SMALLER that the AWD. Considering there is less stuff in the back with FWD, why wouldn't it have the bigger tank? Obviously this isn't a big deal, but it makes no sense to me. Plus, I am coming from a 2000 Windstar, which had a 26 gallon tank, and with milage not much worse than the Edge, I find I am filling much more often than before. Anyone know the reason for the smaller tank on the FWD? Thanks. Jim
jlight
I would assume it has to do with the AWD using more fuel and needing a bigger tank for range? Sort of seems like they should just have one tank size on the car to reduce production costs...

That may be true but it's more likely that it's unintended - the presence of the AWD components probably forced a different tank location and/or shape which ended up being larger. redundant
Quite possibly. Would love a bigger tank, but not to be.
