Father of Ford 702
Hello, I need to replace the half shaft seal on the passenger side that goes into the trans. What size socket for the axle nut will I need? I read 32 or 36 but I can't just guess as these are expensive. I have a 2013 Edge SE FWD Thanks
TheWizard
A 32mm socket is only $4.99 at Harbor Freight. Granted, those aren't the world's best quality but I doubt you would have a need to use it regularly. They didn't seem to have a 36mm on their website but Amazon has them for as little as $10. mike dexter
Spindle nut is 36mm. AutoZone should have it. And I am fairly certain you're into 3/4" drive territory.
Father of Ford 702
Thanks guys. I ended up borrowing a 36 1/2inch from a friend and used a breaker bar. Unfortunatly, I could not figure out how to remove the 3 bolts that hold the intermediate shaft. Theres literally no space to get a wrench into without removing the exhaust and cat. IWRBB
Not sure what the predicament is- but, crowsfoot?
NeckDlight
Did you ever get the intermediate shaft figured out. I just did a intermediate shaft replacement along with the seal in the transmission as well as the lower trans mount. It's a pain in the Hutt getting to. There is a heat shield mounted to it that ia for the catalatic converter. Three bolts bolt the intermediate shaft to the block.
PrinzII
We are replacing the bearings on my 2011 and confirmed it is a 36mm nut for the axle. My buddy got his from AutoZone.
