jlchoitz
Our Edge has 206,000 miles on it. I replaced the water pump, timing chain, and spark plugs about 700 miles ago. It was running fine until it started quitting. It seems to be quitting when coming to a stop/already stopped. I see there are several things such as throttle body or purge valve that could be causing it. It is throwing no codes. Any advice on where to start? enigma-2
Just asking, did you use Motorcraft spark plugs? One other area you could consider is you may have loosened or broken a vacume line when you changed the water pump or plugs, just enough to cause the car to malfunction at idle.
jlchoitz
I dont remember what plugs I used, but I dont think they were Motorcraft. I think they mightve been Bosch. I also forgot to add that its not holding speed with cruise on very well either. When it quits, it doesnt want to start back up, it doesnt crank up right. But when it starts it seems to run ok. What are the symptoms of the purge valve failing?
Edgieguy
Check the snorkel from the airbox. Take it off an look at it. Often the rubber snorkel develops cracks between the ridges or bellows and that allows air in. If the clamps are not tight that can be another leak. Look it over good, I discovered cracks in mine and it wasn't even 5 years old.
