toast1850
Can anyone tell me how to remove driver side door check for a 2014 Edge? I bought a replacement because mine makes a popping noise when I open the door. Any help is appreciated.

toast1850
Yeah see the pic I attached. It looks like I will have to remove the entire door panel. Was hoping it would be easy.

enigma-2
Try spraying it with silicone spray first. Probably dirt causing it to bind creating the poping as it releases. (I use WD40 Dry Lube on mine).
toast1850
Yeah I tried that a while back and it didn't help. I specifically bought that type. It pops pretty bad and can be embarrassing if someone rides with me and hears it. So it's time to replace it.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
How many miles on your Edge if I may ask?
toast1850
Around 46,000. It's a 2014. I do have an extended warranty on it but it's not through Ford. It's one of those third party warranties they sold me when I financed it. I could probably go through the warranty, but I think I have to cover a deductible first. I would have to check my paperwork to see how much. The passenger side started recently also but it's not near as bad as the driver side.
enigma-2
Doubt a third-party warranty will cover it as it hasent failed (just creates a poping sound).
toast1850
Just to confirm, I did have to remove the entire door panel just to get to this part. But no more popping!
