RNmom0226
Have a 2013 Ford Edge. Noticed my rear defrost does not appear to be working. The light comes on when I turn it on, my heated mirrors work. Just the rear defrost is not working. We checked the fuse and that seems to be okay. What should we do next? This may sound crazy but my rear defroster stopped working when my battery was getting weak in my 2011. Maybe it's some kind of protection that prevents using high drain accessories when the battery gets weak.
RNmom0226
I thought of that, but it was just replaced at the beginning of the year. ??♀️
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Typically a grid disruption will only affect the actual broken line, but IDK if it works the same on the Edge/MKX. If it is not coming on at all, have to look at fuse, relay, or FCIM/HVAC module. Fuse 26 (40A) in the battery junction box. Try replacing it anyway, just in case it is not able to take a full load.

We will replace the fuse! Thank you! Fingers crossed it works!
mike dexter
Rear defrost wire harness is on the passenger side of your back window, about midway up. Pop off the trim panel and it should be right there. Check that the connector is seated properly, is not corroded, etc. If you don't find anything obvious, disconnect it, and verify that it has voltage when the defrost is turned on. If yes, then it is the back glass itself. Which seems doubtful to me. As WWWPerfA mentions above, one broken wire usually results in only that horizontal line not defrosting. If no, then it is something between the fuse box and the harness connector.
