louky
I will be replacing the front struts on my GF's 2011 edge this upcoming weekend. She ordered Monroe quick struts and I have looked at some youtubes and have all needed tools. While looking this up in the past, I "think" I saw some reference to a service bulletin referencing the positioning of the upper bolt plate in a certain orientation for alignment issues. I haven't been able to find this again. None of the youtubes mentions it. Did I imagine this? I plan on installing these in whatever orientation they come in out of the box if I don't learn anything otherwise before I start. I'm sure there have been folks on this forum who have done this job so I would like to hear if it was an issue for anyone. Thanks in advance! WWWPerfA_ZN0W
there was a tsb about needing to adjust the subframe in case of stubborn alignment issues, perhaps you are thinking of that?
NoDTMF
A little late now, but when doing my 2017 Edge there is an alignment tab on the seat of the top mount. In the H&R springs discussionI updated the install document posted by snmjim to include the picture, here is the link https://drive.google...KIwbBI3-Gs/view Edited September 26, 2018 by NoDTMF
macbwt
Never had an issue with the directional of the Strut bearing mount. There may be and arrow on it pointing in the direction so look closely when removing it. then re-install in the same manner. Monroe would only be my choice if they were the last set in the entire web. Check the spring diameter on the monroes and then the factory spring diameter. You may be very surprised.
Bfazona
I can echo Macs feelings toward Monroe. I put a set of Monroe Quickstruts on my wifes Flex, mainly due to price and ease of swap. I replaced all the other front end components with either Moog or Motorcraft parts and afterwards I was getting a binding sound. I could not track it down and checked everything multiple times. Turns out it was the Moog strut bearings binding when you turned the wheel. I had to completely disassemble everything, grab a spring compressor, and replace the strut bearings with Motorcraft. Half a day later, it was back together and quiet as a mouse. Monroe is dead to me!
