sfbluenote
I just got told not to run my Edge through a car wash....it may break the Antenna off. Anybody know if this is correct info??
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Really? That would be a first. I know some aftermarket antennas are fragile, but OEM? I would be more concerned with the radar components in the bumper TBH.

sfbluenote
Thanks for the feedback guys...My wife just got an Edge and she was told this by the salesman at the Ford dealership. It seemed weird to me....
fishx65
I know that the first and second Gen Edges tend to leave the bolt cover for the rear wiper at drive through car washes.
jmr061
As far as automated washes go, I would only ever use a touch-less one. Too many horror stories of damage done by non-touch-less. Perhaps that's what the salesman was getting at. Just to clarify this is just my opinion.
chefduane
I've had my '11 LTD through numerous car washes with no problems. Dunno' what all the fuss is about.
todd92
Our goes through the car wash 2-3 times a week (love the $20/month unlimited plan). This is the silliest thing I've heard.
tk2fast
Years ago had the horizontal rotary brush that goes over the front hood get stuck and ripped open my hood, also damaging the front grill. Was not an Edge at that time.
onyxbfly
Sounds like he was trying to push oil changes and car washes on her.
enigma-2
Mine gets washed every week. Lost a front wiper once, but no other damage. Don't believe anything a salesman tells you. TheWizard
Working for a company that owns gas stations and dozens of car washes, I can tell you that it is very unusual to get claims of damage to original equipment on any vehicle. Most damage comes from add-ons like hood protectors and some of it is just really dumb owners. We had one car go through with a magnetic mount CB antenna on it that beat the car severely when the antenna got caught in the rotating brush. Another was a pickup truck with unsecured paint cans and tools in the bed. We even had one driver open his door to dump out his coffee while the brushes were running - it flooded the inside and nearly tore the door off. But the guy who wanted us to pay for the damage when he left his sunroof open during the wash really takes the cake.
PaulSchott
Should have charged him extra for the interior cleaning service. People can be such asses

Tim Mallon
i take it off, they did every time the dealer ran it thought during services so i figured they saw this as an issue, because they only took it off the car/trucks like the edge and not the old style fender mounts...
