Where to purchase OEM wheels?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I just recently purchased a 2018 Edge SEL. I am wanting to replace my stock 18" wheels with some 20" Edge Sport knockoffs.

Any suggestions as to where to get a good deal? I am seeing remanufactured wheels out there. Any thoughts/experiences on remanufactured wheels?

I am looking to find the wheels below.

BTW: My Edge is in too good to be blue.

Hmmm? I'm confused now if you want knockoffs or OEM wheels. For a 2018 I'm guessing OEM wheels will only be available from Ford, a selvedge yard or a selvedge parts broker. All you will probably find at Summit are wheels that look the same and for that do a search by vehicle.

Thanks guys. I got totally lucky and found the exact wheelset that I want on Craigslist. Dude wants $1400 with Hankook 245/50R20 all seasons. He says the wheels and the tires have less than 300 miles. Hopefully I can talk him down to $1200.

I should be able to put them on myself and then get them aligned. :)

Just a wheel change does not require an alignment, even changing wheel sizes. Do the new ones come with TPMS sensors?

I can't find OEM wheels on Summit Racing - could you post a direct link?

I believe the OP was quite clear that he wanted OEM, not knock-off or third party aftermarket, and the two eBay links in this thread and the OP's Craigslist find are OEM, typically new "Take-Off's".

The OP was looking for OEM, and that's not what you'll find at Summit Racing.

Picked them up for $1250. These wheels have absolutely no curb rash and they are exactly what I wanted. It was a 50 mile drive but worth it.

Just need to pop them on tomorrow when I get a chance.

Hopefully I will be able to get about $700/$800 for the original 18's with rubber that it came with.

I got the new SEL for 25k with rebates. I am happy with my car purchase so far. :)

I know knock off are way cheaper, but the majority of knock offs are manufactured in China. If you want get a good quality wheel then go Ford. Yeah, I know their wheels are probably produced in Mexico, at least the quality control is much better.

I priced out a new 21" wheel for my 2016 Edge Sport and was shocked to learn these wheels are around $1,100 each. Some idiot came around the corner real fast when I was in NOHO so I whipped into a parking lot to keep from being rear ended and scrubbed the curb. I ended with only a small bit of curb rash instead of getting rear ended.

You could do some research and find that there are some nice American made wheels on the market cheaper.

Oh, buy the way, "To Good To Be Blue" is a one year color for 2016, which is the color of mine.

Ford's OEM 21" wheels are made in China. As far as I remember reading embossed on them. The Sport's 20" are made in USA.

They are very expensive because that's how any wheel is priced through a car dealer. OEM wheels are always very expensive at car dealers. By the way, the 21" wheels can be had for around $650 new.

The 20" wheels are more expensive, probably due to being made in USA vs China.

i've bought wheels from these guys with no problems:

https://detroitwheelandtire.com/

they have a huge selection of OEM wheels in various finishes

I know you've already found a great deal, but for anyone else reading through this, I've also had great success with Detroit Wheel and Tire. They are local to me so I've been able to go in person and they have great service and good quality items. Turned out to be cheaper to get a new wheel from them compared to the quote from a body shop to have one repainted.

I bought my set of OEM 21" wheels from Detroit Wheel and Tire also. I got a pretty good deal and was happy with the service. I didn't use the trade option as I wanted a winter set-up too, so I kept my factory 20" set up. I think I paid just over $2,000 for the rims with Pirelli P-Zero summer tires, mounted and balanced with 4 new TPMS installed. Those tires are at least $1200 alone. If anyone does order custom powder coated wheels, be sure to request them without the gloss clearcoat. It will eventually flake, especially in hotter climates/heavy braking. Powder coat is heat cured so it holds up at higher temps, but the clearcoat is regular spray and cannot resist the higher temps. It was pointless anyway, the powder coat is glossy enough by itself. I didn't figure this out until quite a few months later, but in their defense, they did offer to refinish them, I just decided it was too much trouble to remove them and ship them back, so eventually I will have them powder coated again locally.

1004ron,

Maybe clear to you and that's fine but when I read, "20" Edge Sport knockoffs" it's not the way I see it. I've never heard OEM referred to as knockoffs. Take offs yes, knockoffs, no. Knockoff from the dictionary, "copy or imitation."

I'm sorry, you're right, I must have speed read the OP - I have the same understanding of "knockoffs" as you.
