Snox801
So guys I still cant post pics but I found a photo of our stock downpipe. I think that is where we are being held back after the tune. It has a pretty serious bent and pinch point right after the turbo. So is anyone interested in a downpipe? When I talked with lms they will build a pipe but because its one off it would be very costly. This is more than likely the second best mod we could do just at sight. Plus a catless would give a better sound.
todd92
Why would you want a catless downpipe? A downpipe with a high flow cat will provide 99% of the gains and none of the smelly exhaust of a catless one.
Snox801
Ive run both and Ive never really noticed the diffrence in smell between the two. The only reason I thought catless is the sound would be better and when tuned at the higher end the cats seem to give up early on the st and RS. This needing to be replaced. I think the pops and burbles when letting off is what kills hem so fast. Plus its cheaper to begin with.
todd92
You don't notice the smell, but anyone behind you does.
Snox801
If you are tuned correctly the smell is very minimal. I notice more black smoke and smell from any other DI engine that goes wot than I ever have out of a catless well tuned car. Dont get me wrong I have both catted and catless systems for diffrent applications. My 3.5 truck push just under 500whp has catted and works fine but I wouldnt do one on a 2.0 or 2.3 because they have a reputaion for ruining expensive catted downpipe in record time. Look at the st and RS forums. This I dont want to pay a higher cost for a catted pipe only to have it go out sooner. Plus Ive never had anyone complain about the smell from behind me. Snox801
I wouldnt be against a catted one either. I just assumed most on here where like the st crowd and opted for the $300 pipe as opposed to the $500-600 pipe. I would buy whatever came out first to be honest. Snox801
Ok so with no luck and lms not sure if the fusion one will fit. Im not willing to spend my money for them to see. They have a crazy expensive shop rate. I mean insane. I did some digging and found a company that offers a reasonable one for the fusion awd. So as I was looking they happen to be 20 min from me in GR. So I emailed to see if we could test fit one. They have performed dyno before and after I they got 17whp and trq with just the bolt on no other changes. Now Im not sure as if thats accurate but this is the one part that would not surprise me. The stock pipe is pretty junk. Also after being tuned I should be closer to a focus st in power than I am. The turbos are different so we may have a smaller housing limiting us but the downpipe was a glaring diffrence. I contacted lms to see if they could remotely make the change so I got no check engine if the catless is the only way they offer it. $300 for a true 17whp and some better sound is pretty good deal.

Sooooo, did you ever get it figured out? I'm interested in an aftermarket downpipe for my '19 Edge. Not sure if the Fusion or Focus ones would fit? tjsfordtech
So has anyone found a downpipe? Or know possibly if a Focus ST or Fusion one would work, maybe even with a little modification?
